CASE STUDY

International AV Consulting: Silvera IFIA

Following positive meetings with the government agency Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO), during a 2024 trade trip organised by the Caribbean Council, Silvera submitted an official report detailing multiple ways in which CAM could improve transport provision on the island. Ian Fleming International Airport (IFIA) was identified as a prime location to trial not only self-driving passenger vehicles, but last-mile delivery and baggage handling robots, and a host of other intelligent transport solutions.

The most compelling early application is to use autonomous electric minibuses to streamline passenger movements within the airport complex – to ferry visitors and staff between the parking lots and terminals. Key benefits include increased safety, reduced waiting times and emissions, and a superior overall user experience. We also detailed how technologies such as smart parking could deliver substantial operational efficiency gains. To date, Silvera IFIA is our most ambitious CAM project outside of the UK.
